Live?

Smiles,
Laughter,
Moments of success,
Love,
Happiness,
Emotions of joy,

This is Why.

To live,
To love,
To experience,
Often undervalued,
Often overlooked,
Mostly disregarded,

This is the key,
Emotions are the answer,
Life has meaning,
This is Why.

Melda...WOW! To start with I really really really lke it! I feel as though it is full of emotion and feelings which capivates the reader even more. The line that is repeated "This is Why" is interesting. It is as though you are explaining it, but not really explaining it...that is what I understood! Imagery is a major aspect in the whole poem especially in the first stanza. I could easily picture people smiling and laughing. And maybe because your poem is so simple, it gives it a more mischievous and hidden.
Finally...TOK MOMENT! :D Ms. Jessome would be proud!

Wow, I really did like it, despit the fact that I didn't agree with what you thought was the meaning of life...I really liked your structure, showing (while in a discreet way also explaining)what makes life worth living. When you said "This is why" it really grabs the readers attention in the sense that it imposes a statement on them, and you basically provide evidence throughout the rest of the poem strengthening the meaning of that statement. Life has meaning, although I don't really agree that emotions are the answer...I personally believe that emotions are merely chemicals in our brain developed for the human race's survival and distinction from the rest of the animal kingdom, but that's just me :)
The simplicity of your poem increased its impact upon the reader, although it also might limit it in its ability to convince the reader...Also, I understood that the poem was meant to portray that the reason for living is emotions, and that may seem true from a poet or dreamer's point of view, but does it give justice to fact?
Anyway, overall deep and impressive poem, pesonally I ask the question "Why?" the most, so keep it up! :)

I really enjoyed reading your poem. It's so simple which makes it easy to read and more interesting for the reader. At the same time the poem strongly conveys the message. The language isn't sophisticated, and it was clear that you weren't trying too hard (that's a good thing!) it isn't pretentious. It reflects how you felt at that moment and makes people reflect on their own lives. The short one word lines place emphasis on the words and convey a clearer message. There is no fixed rhyme scheme or meter however many lines begin or end similarly for example, “To live, to love, to experience,” and “Often undervalued, often overlooked, mostly disregarded.” This allows the words to flow smoothly as they are being read.
